When it comes to the food that Sri Lanka should eat, it is at the top of the list for food lovers. A bowl of rice flour and coconut milk is poured into bowl-shaped hoppers. They have a thin, crisp outer edge with a soft dough. Traditionally eaten with plain or medium egg, served with a variety of curries and sambal..usually eat hoppers with onion sambal and gravy with a very spicy meat/egg curry called onion chilli. Then you can dip hopper into it. or with
honey and banana for a sweet treat

Delicious Hopper Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon of dehydrated baker’s yeast
  • 250 ml of coconut water (I used fresh coconut water)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 500g of rice flour
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 750 ml of coconut milk

Preparation

To make hoppers, you mix rice flour, coconut milk, yeast, and sugar and let it ferment overnight. To enhance the effect, chefs sometimes add a little bit of carbonated water. Instant hopper mixes are now available in supermarkets. You pour it into a hopper bowl and cook on fire until golden color.

A chopped egg for the hopper is even more amazing. As you begin to cook, you crack an egg over it and cover the pan. In a few minutes, you have a delicious hopper with a delicious egg on the bottom. The popular breakfast is served by upscale restaurants and street vendors.
