Dunhinda Waterfall, Smoky dew drops spray
Dunhinda Falls is a waterfall located 5 km (3.1 miles) from Badulla in the lower central hills of Sri Lanka. The waterfall is considered to be the most beautiful waterfall in the country.
The waterfall is 64 meters 210 feet high and gets its name from the spray of smoke and dew around the area at the waterfall foot. So it is not a very high waterfall. But with its “beauty.” It is a great waterfall and mind-blowing. Called Dunhinda, the water breaks down like smoke; it is also known as the bridal veil because the waterfall’s shape is similar to a bridal veil. The source of this waterfall is from the Badulu River. The Badulla – Mahiyanganaya main road should cross the waterfall. This road is about 1km from Badulla. Dunhinda Junction, about six miles away. The sign on the right-hand side of the road is easily identifiable and can be reached by a walk a short walk from the small footpath that starts from that junction.
Facilities are available to park vehicles along the main road. Traders are selling medicinal beverages and grains in both ways. Therefore, the walkways are not deserted. But sometimes it’s a very narrow one, and you need to be concerned about it.
During the walk to Dunhinda, you may find monkeys on both sides of the walkways, Better to avoid giving food to the monkeys because they all will follow you once you did. Before you reach the main waterfall, you can see another waterfall called the Punchi Dunhinda. However, getting near the waterfall is very difficult. It is necessary to walk on a challenging road through the forest.
